The Kansas City St. Andrew Society annually grants a Paton-Cross Scholarship through support from the St. Andrew Foundation. Awards are made to scholars enrolled full-time in a United States institution. There is generally one award granted annually totaling $2,000. The size and total number of awards may vary from year to year. These were originally separate scholarships, named in memory of Dr. Iain MacDonald Paton and Herb Cross. It is to honor their contributions to the Saint Andrew Society and particularly their encouragement of youth to both embrace their Scottish heritage and to become contributing members of the St. Andrew Society.
